Tansy and Beetle: Sherry Doyal and Helena Coddington exhibit at Tanacetum
Event Details
“Tansy and Beetle” - An exhibition by Sherry Doyal and Helena Coddington
Sherry works with Botanic subjects and materials. Art includes drawings, toned cyanotypes, pressed plants, books and basketry. With a background in artefacts conservation interests include use of fragile, ephemeral materials such as wasp paper. Art is used to draw attention towards natural history collections particularly herbaria.
Helena's work pays tribute to previous natural beauty; particularly entomology and marine life. Acrylic paint etching and lino cuts art explored. Helena also draws from within the sub-conscious mind translated to abstraction to entice the viewer into noticing something new. It is like baking a cake, sometimes all the elements come together in harmonious deliciousness and sometimes… well you decide.
This exhibition is inspired by the endangered and protected Tansy Beetle prints pressings and paintings.
